Mild mannered scientist Dr. David Banner (Bill Bixby) is a hard working medical researcher who is mourning the loss of his wife. David has devoted his life to the study of superhuman adrenaline surges arising in times of great need or danger. Since David is tortured by the fact he couldn't save his wife from her accidental death, he is always searching for answers, and hopes to prove a hypothesis he has about Gamma rays. While he is experimenting on himself, he's unknowingly exposed to highly increased levels of Gamma rays and soon his transformation begins. During times of great anger, Banner turns into a monstrous creature called the Hulk. The Hulk(Lou Ferrigno) is not an evil alter ego, and in fact seems to be compassionate, but is soon blamed for the death of Banner's friend Dr. Marks(Susan Sullivan). David Banner was also assumed dead in the same explosion,and the Hulk is blamed. Banner cannot remember anything which occurs while he is the Hulk, and he soon must run , traveling from one town to another, until he finds a way to control his alter ego.
